The MT6501 is a programmable magnetic position sensor aimed at automotive position sensing where the controller expects an analog voltage or a PWM duty cycle rather than a serial bus. Programming allows the output characteristic to be trimmed to the mechanical travel of the specific assembly during production, which avoids relying on tight mechanical tolerances alone.
Overview
The MT6501 is a programmable magnetic position sensor from CONNTEK built around two AMR Wheatstone bridges that follow the direction of an applied field. It provides a 12-bit analog output or a PWM output with selectable frequencies of 976, 488, 244 or 122 Hz, and the transfer curve can be trimmed in production: four set points plus independent upper and lower clamp voltages are programmed over a single-wire interface or a three-wire SPI port.
The part tolerates up to ±30 V DC on its supply pin, runs from 4.5 – 5.5 V and is specified over -40 to +150 °C, which places it in under-hood positions. It is supplied in SOP-8 or, for redundant designs, a dual-channel TSSOP-16.
