The TG2520SMN is a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator holding ±0.5 ppm across its temperature range. A plain crystal drifts far more than that, which matters for GNSS receivers because a frequency error translates directly into a position error, and for cellular radios because it shows up as a carrier offset. A TCXO carries the compensation network on-chip, so the host does not have to correct in software.
Overview
The TG2520SMN is a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) from Hosonic in the 2520 package. The datasheet covers an output range of 10 MHz to 55 MHz with standard frequencies including 26, 27, 30, 32, 38.4, 40, 48, 50 and 52 MHz. Supply options are 1.8 V ±0.1 V, 2.8 V ±5 %, 3.0 V ±5 % and 3.3 V ±5 %, over an operating range of -40 to +90 °C.
Frequency/temperature characteristics come in two grades: C at ±0.5 ppm maximum and F at ±2.0 ppm maximum, both measured from -40 to +85 °C. Current consumption is 1.5 mA maximum up to 26 MHz and 2.1 mA at 50 – 55 MHz. Output is a clipped sine wave and the part is intended for GNSS receivers, wireless infrastructure and telecom timing.
