The KTM5900 is a 24-bit absolute magnetic angle encoder with ±0.05° accuracy, intended for precision servo and robotics work where the accuracy of the position feedback directly limits the achievable control performance. It offers SPI and BiSS-C outputs, and BiSS-C in particular is common in servo drive designs that already speak that protocol.
Overview
The KTM5900 is a 24-bit absolute magnetic angle encoder from CONNTEK that integrates a high-precision TMR sensor with the conversion and interface logic. Two 16-bit, 2 MSa/s SAR ADCs read the differential sine and cosine channels, and a one-key non-linearity self-calibration routine trims the output across the rotation. Single-pole angle resolution reaches 24 bits, and the part runs from a 3.3 – 5 V analog and digital supply over -40 to +125 °C.
Output modes include ABZ quadrature at up to 36 Mbps (65,536 lines) and SPI, all in a QFN32 5 x 5 mm package. Configurable filtering trades noise against response time. The target applications are servo and robot joint feedback and other high-precision rotary measurements, where TMR sensing supplies the field accuracy the conversion chain needs.
