The AWK6613 is a synchronous buck regulator with a 5 µA quiescent current. Quiescent current is the current the regulator itself consumes while delivering little or no output — in an always-on rail it is drawn continuously, so it sets the standby lifetime of the product. At 5 µA the part is intended for designs that stay powered from a battery for long periods, such as automotive cockpit standby rails and battery-powered instruments.
Overview
The AWK6613 is a 36 V synchronous step-down regulator from Analogwin with an ultralow 5 µA operating quiescent current. The datasheet covers a 3.0 – 36 V input range, up to 3 A of output current, selectable switching frequencies of 400 kHz, 1.4 MHz and 2.1 MHz, a 1.5 % 1 V reference over -40 to +125 °C and a typical minimum on-time of 35 ns. Protection includes cycle-by-cycle current limit with hiccup mode and thermal shutdown.
The 5 µA quiescent current targets products that must hold a rail alive for years on a small battery, or that sit in standby for long periods and wake on an event: battery-powered instruments, always-on sensors and portable equipment where a conventional buck would drain the cell.
